In this series of articles called CAIR’s New Islamophobia Report, James Simpson describes the Report by the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation terror funding case of 2008, as a work of deception whose purpose is to silence any unfavourable discussion of Islam as “Islamophobia” and to smear any individual or organization opposed to its agenda as an Islamophobe or hate group. In this endeavour, CAIR has partnered with the extreme leftist and discredited Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), which is nevertheless still treated by the mainstream media as an authority on “hate groups.” The bar for being defined as an Islamophobic hater is set very low and includes anyone who uses terms such as Islamic terrorism, Islamist terrorism, jihadist, violent jihad, Muslim terrorist, and many others. CAIR’s very encompassing definition of Islamophobia parallels that of the United Nations’ Resolution 16/18, a product the Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s (OIC) efforts to silence criticism of Islam in western countries. Canadians should know that the National Council of Canadian Muslims (NCCM), formerly known as CAIR-Canada, is CAIR’s Canadian branch office, and Motion M-103 is the product of efforts by NCCM and its fellow travellers and can be seen as an effort to silence criticism of Islam in Canada.
